The wild and inhabited Madre de Dios River was the destination of this journey. However before I reached its bank I had to conquer the Llanos savanna and mud. Mud so deep, that it stops all road transport for a couple months every year.

The rainy season was just ending. The first bus set off form the village at the base of the Andes. A couple hours later another bus and a couple of trucks (a little convoy of impatient daredevils) caught up. They'll either manage to open a passage through the mud and get to the destination or get stuck somewhere along the way and then have to wait there for a week or two... until the mud dries a little bit more, "sets" and they will be able to set off further.

Of course I didn't have to get on. I could have waited a couple more days to find out whether the first truck had managed to get through. I could have. But then I wouldn't have experienced such an adventure and I wouldn't have had the opportunity to take such photos.

I ask all publishing houses, institutions and individuals who would like to buy these or any other of my photos, to get in touch with the photo agency, that represents me: tago@onet.pl
